A Unique Private Healing Session integrating acupuncture with massage therapy, aromatherapy, reiki, acupressure and reflexology as indicated is provided by Dr. Diane Rooney
When we have any misdirection or blockage of this Qi, the body becomes out of balance and certain diseases and disharmonies can emerge. Acupuncture helps breakdown these blockages thereby redirecting the Qi to bring about homeostasis or balance.
Acupuncture can work on the most dense or the most subtle levels and therefore is used for the body, emotions, mind and spirit.
Acupuncture is a stand-alone treatment for many symptoms or it can be used alongside other treatments and modalities.
From a Western and allopathic perspective, acupuncture produces a consistent impact on the central nervous system, which relays a message to the brain which then sends a signal to the specific area of the body that the needle is inserted. This in turn, makes a specific change in the homeostasis or balance of the body. Studies show that it can impact blood flow, hormones, neurotransmitters, immune function, inflammation, cellular health, pain receptors, and muscle tone.
From an Eastern perspective, acupuncture unblocks what is called stuck Qi. There is an energetic channel system that operates as highways for the flow of Qi. When we experience any disruption of the free flow of this Qi, disease and disharmony of the body and mind can ensue. The acupuncturist acts as a detective in sense by questioning the patient and applying a Chinese medical examination that includes feeling the pulse, looking at the tongue palpating the abdomen or the area of pain or tenderness, and deeply listening to the patient’s complaint. Once a pattern of disharmony is identified, the acupuncturist places the needles in the appropriate meridians and acupuncture points.
Acupuncture does not have to hurt to work and can be a pleasant experience, leaving patients feeling very relaxed after a treatment.
By integrating these other therapies to augment the acupuncture treatment, Diane brings an even more profound healing experience to her patients.
